TOOELE, UT – Jan. 28th, 2025 – The second annual Major League eSports World Championships have wrapped up, and a new MLES World Champion has been crowned. Local gaming enthusiast and arcade game collector, “DivingBuddy,” took the top spot due to his excellent gameplay on Asteroids Recharged Arcade; Retroman21 of Baltimore, MD, was hot on Diving Buddy’s heels thanks to his efforts on Avian Knights Arcade, while NexusUntaken of Syracuse, UT, wasn’t far behind. Each contestant won a cash prize, with $1000 going to DivingBuddy for his efforts.

The event saw players from all around the United States come together to compete on two Alan-1 arcade machines: Avian Knights and Asteroids Recharged. Those players were known by their screen names: Retroman21 (returning champion from the 2024 MLeS Championship), Mockduck, nexusuntaken, divingbuddy, robotronguy, l0cknk3y, the director, and MattyD.
The day started with a tour of Alan-1’s manufacturing facility, known as Area 52, where the contestants could see how the games are built. After that, the event got underway at The Hangar, where the eight players took the next 10 hours to set their best scores and climb the bracket ladders until there was a clear champion. That was local Tooele resident DivingBuddy, whose skills on both games put him over the top. Those who were unable to attend the tournament watched the livestream, hosted on Alan-1’s Twitch channel.
“We’re incredibly grateful for the talented champions who competed in this year’s MLeS Championship. The skill and passion of our players continue to amaze us, and we’re proud to have such incredible superstars competing on MLeS. Beyond the competition, we’re deeply thankful for the viewers and visitors who joined us to experience the excitement and energy of this event. The Championship leaves us inspired and exhilarated for the year ahead, as we look forward to the continued growth and success of the Alan-1 and MLeS,“ said Brad Howard, president at Alan-1
Major League eSports (MLeS) is available for both iOS & Android devices. It is a free mobile app which allows anyone to compete in eSports – no team sponsorships or entry fees required. The app is integrated with every Alan-1 game, which in 2024 included Avian Knights and the award-winning Asteroids Recharged Arcade. Weekly tournaments are held for both games; when users participate in the tournaments, they accumulate league points. The top eight leaders of the League Points Leaderboard are invited to participate in the Annual World Championship.
