So my tempest 2p cocktail journey started with clearing out an enormous rat nest. I replaced some burnt up components on the deflection board and got the Alan-1 transistor kit installed and it brought up an image. The image was twisted in the middle and too skinny and would go out of sync at most adjustment of the X and Y on the game board. I noticed the left amp resistor on the deflection was getting very hot and the right side was staying luke warm. Then I replaced the pots on the game board to make sure they were clean new ones and feeding the proper signals and installed a cap kit that included some stuff for the HV. After installing everything the deflection started blowing fuses and burning up components on the left amp. The HV board was kicking out 230V instead of 180. I can't get it to drop any lower so I'm trying to figure out where to source all the parts needed to rebuild the HV board from scratch since the original board is so burned. I got a replacement PCB, but I don't want to use original components as some are paper wrapped caps from the 70's where the paper is peeling off. I kinda regret doing the cap kit that seems to have sent the HV over the edge. New components should fix it all eventually right?? You will need to have a WG6100 monitor manual for references to your parts list and be able to read the schematics. I am not sure of your skill level for working on vector games, but I will try and help you troubleshoot your problems. If you have another working XY monitor that would be very helpful when metering from a good HV or deflection PCB, and finding the bad/burnt parts that need to be replaced. https://www.arcadeshop.com/ has the kits you will need for replacement parts.
